A tarot reading on YouTube can be considered similar to a general horoscope in your local newspaper. You are likely to find something that resonates with your current situation, as the readings are created to fit the needs of the majority of their viewers.
As you already know, there are hundreds of tarot readers on YouTube. Are they all trustworthy? Absolutely not! There will be many scam artists amongst the good ones, but they will not be able to create a strong following unless the audience feels like their readings are accurate and beneficial.

How do YouTube readings work?

It doesn’t matter who you are asking, whether it be your spirit guides, passed loved ones, God, or even just your Higher Self. Afterward, you scroll through the search results and try to feel which video you are the most drawn to.
The majority of the YouTube tarot readings are so-called “Pick a card” readings. Some of them will be categorized in themes such as Love or Career, while others will be general readings for the current energies.
In Pick a Card videos, you will be presented with several options of cards, decks, or stacks, and the reader will ask you to pick the one you feel resonate with you the most. Trust that your intuition tells you which reading you need and that the cards will deem accurate for this specific time of your life.
Even if the specifics of the reading does not fit your life, there will most likely still be something that you can take from it to reflect or learn from. One could choose to have a skeptical view on it and focus on anything that is inaccurate, or one could focus on what insight and clarity that particular reading can offer you.
What if I watch the same video for a different question?
If you decide to go the YouTube reading route, then I highly suggest that you do not re-watch the same videos over and over again. Besides, there is a constant flow of new uploads on a daily basis, so why would you repeat the same one?
I believe that if you already know what the cards will say, then you might find yourself phrasing your question in a way that leaves you with the answer that you are hoping for.
It will not allow a dynamic and true interpretation. Remember that when it comes to tarot cards, you can only lie to yourself so much before you have to come face to face with your subconscious.
It will be better for you to choose a new video each time you have a question. You might accidentally choose a video that you have previously watched, and if that happens, then it will be because your intuition guided you to the same one – trust those instincts if so.
As most of the readings are quite general in nature, you might hear an entirely different answer the second time around. Particularly if your question is different than the one you had initially!
Are the YouTube tarot readers trustworthy?
This is, of course, a difficult question to answer, seeing as there are numerous different tarot readers on the popular platform. As mentioned previously, there will be a large number of scammers who are looking for easy money without any experience with esoteric spirituality practices.
I would suggest that you check out several different readers to see which ones you feel the most comfortable watching. Take a look at the comment sections below the videos as well, and perhaps you can even do a Google search on the reader.
There are a lot of very professional readers who use YouTube as a free tool to inform, educate and assist their audience.
Many readers will find that YouTube is a good place to build a following, which in turn will bring them more clients for private readings. It is important to remember that the readers are in fact dependent on their paying clients in order to make a living.
My personal experience however, is that the more professional a reader is, the less money-focused they seem to be.

Checklist to find a legit reader online
This list can be used for all tarot readers on YouTube as well as any other online reader. There will always be exceptions to the rules, but as a general rule of thumb, these are the things I would tell you to look for in a serious reader;
- Are they taking their time to explain the process to you without making it feel rushed?
- They should feel inviting and not intimidating; would you feel comfortable asking them a question?
- Do they seem ethical and with a good moral? One example would be whether they are willing to answer questions regarding death or the ill-wishing of others.
- Do they seem to tell the reader what they think the reader wants to hear or are they able to convey even negative aspects of a reading in a compassionate, but honest way?
- Are they overly money-driven and trying to push for clients to pay them money for short and impersonal readings?
- Do you pick up a loving and compassionate vibe from them? It is important for you to feel comfortable with the reader, even when it is not a personal one on one reading.
When reading does not resonate with you
With YouTube readings more so than any other reading, you will come across a lot of information that does not feel accurate to you. Does that automatically mean that you have come across a scammer? Not at all!
I have experienced that with each of the tarot readers in my personal top 10 list which you will find below. However, each one of them has been spot on a lot more often than not.
We have already discussed how a YouTube reading has to be quite general and it is common for the readers to remind you to choose what suits you and allow the rest of the information to go in one ear and out the other.
The main incentive for tarot it personal development and clarity to invite emotional growth. In that sense, it will help us to watch videos where we are forced to identify our situation and how we feel about the people in our lives, or about events that have taken place.
Our greatest power comes from being able to listen to advice from tarot readers, or anyone else for that matter, and be able to implement what we can benefit from and leave the rest.
Can anyone become a YouTube tarot reader?
The short answer is yes. But can anyone become successful on YouTube? Not without putting in some effort. There are a lot of energy workers and tarot readers on the platform and to be able to grow a large audience, you have to deliver.
And by that, I mean both as far as good quality videos go, as well as an authentic and trustworthy presence. If a channel’s subscribers ever feel like the reader doesn’t know what they’re talking about, they will not hesitate to unsubscribe.
Some readers feel comfortable in front of the camera and you are able to get to know them through personal life story videos and Q&A’s, whilst others stick to tarot based content only, while showing no more than themselves than their hands while shuffling and laying out the cards.
If you are a tarot reader yourself, and you are looking to build a community, then I suggest that you try to remain as natural and truthful as possible while making clean and aesthetically pleasing videos.
You will learn a lot as you go, but your personality will be important, so don’t be afraid to let it shine through! Be yourself. Always be yourself!

While a personal reading will give you a lot more in-depth answers to your questions, I certainly feel like YouTube readings can be a beautiful addition to anyone’s lives.
The biggest advantage is of course the fact that it is completely free, so you will not lose out on your hard-earned cash if you feel like it doesn’t resonate with you.
But then, as we have already covered, it will be a lot more of a general reading than the answers and clarity you would receive from a personalized one-on-one reading.
If you have never received a tarot reading before, then I definitely suggest that you start off with free readings on YouTube. Get used to how readings work and how to receive the messages and then you can consider finding the right reader for a private session.
Another option is to do a little research for a local tarot reader in your own area. Being able to meet face to face can make a big difference.
Regardless of what you choose, be sure to check in with yourself and your intuition and listen to which messages you should take from each reading. Trust that the path has taken you to the moment of watching the right video and allow it to be what it is.
