The Queen of Pentacles Tarot Card, A Complete Guide!

The Queen Of Pentacles Tarot Card, A Complete Guide

The Queen of Pentacles card is usually presented as part of the suit of Pentacles in the Minor Arcana of most Tarot Decks. Since the suit is also called Coins, this card is alternatively called the Queen of Coins.

In the Rider Waite deck introduced in 1910, the illustration on the card shows a young queen sitting on a throne that is intricately adorned with symbols that include a cherub that is similar to Cupid, Ram’s head, and fruit, more specifically pears.

These symbols all point toward the essence of the Queen of Pentacles.

The cupid, of course, represents love, while the Ram has always been considered a symbol of fertility. The pears point to the bounty that surrounds her.

The queen’s throne is surrounded by roses and there are blue mountains in the background.

The queen herself is dressed in red, white, and green robes, and has a crown that features the geomantic symbol of a dragon’s head, also known as Caput Draconis (translated from Latin, it means “the head of the dragon”). She holds an enormous coin in her hands.

These symbols can be interpreted through the colors they display. The red of the roses and the robes point towards passion and love. The green of her robes symbolizes wealth, as does the coin she holds. The rabbit pouncing in at the bottom of the card is another symbol of fertility and energy.

The Rider Waite deck is often more peppered with symbolism than most other modern tarot decks. We shall continue to explore these symbols throughout this post and see how they tie in with the Queen of Pentacles appearing in different positions of a spread.

The Queen of Pentacles Tarot Card Reverse

As with most reversed cards, the Queen of Pentacles reflects a situation of lack.

In reverse, the Queen of Pentacles appearing in a reading might denote two situations.

The first is the queen embodying a person. This could be you or a person who is in your life or is coming into your life. If this is a person, he or she could be someone who is obsessed with their social status because they lack it.

In terms of a general outlook, a reversed Queen of Pentacles also talks about an imbalance.

Just like the upright Queen of Pentacles talks about a harmonious balance between work and home, the reversed Queen is unable to strike the right chord. Either they pay too much attention to their personal life, or not enough.

A reversed Queen of Pentacles also points to secret feelings of conflict and guilt that you might feel when you think that you are not doing a good job at work or at home. You may be beating yourself up, thinking that you’re not doing enough.

Take the reversed Queen of Pentacles as a red flag from your Higher Self. You may not exactly be there, but you may be on the way, where you aren’t appreciating what you do enough.

The Queen of Pentacles Tarot Card as How Someone (He/She) Sees You

The Queen of Pentacles is a wonderful card to get if the seeker wants to know how a specific person sees them.

In the upright position, the Queen of Pentacles talks about a beautiful balance of work and home, of self-love and love for others, of being organized for yourself, as well as being there for the ones you love.

Thus, the person you are thinking about sees you as someone who is the best version of yourself. You are warm and affectionate, and this draws people towards you.

While you are professionally capable of running a strong business, you are equally efficient at building a home that your family wants to come back to. It’s like they won the lottery with you!

Jokes aside, you are seen as a wonderful human, who embodies the best possible characteristics that one could have.

The Queen of Pentacles Reversed as How Someone (He/She) Sees You

While many tarot card readers do not believe in reversed meanings, I believe that it is important to learn all ways of reading the tarot and adapt them according to your beliefs.

The Queen of Pentacles in the reversed position talks about the loss of balance. Hence, this person you have in mind sees you as someone who isn’t able to maintain the equilibrium between their home and their professional life.

You could also be seen as someone who is excessively concerned about their social standing. You are completely disconnected from the warm, generous energy of the upright Queen of Pentacles because you are so obsessed with yourself and your social life.

Ordinarily, the suit of pentacles is about enjoying the physical realm and being prosperous. In reverse, this may come through as being too self-absorbed and becoming selfish.

In the upright Queen of Pentacles, there is a blue river that flows behind the throne, symbolizing peace, calm, and a connection with the spiritual and the Queen’s inner thoughts. In the reversed Queen of Pentacles, it is the opposite.

You are no longer in sync with your inner self, and that may manifest itself as a strong attachment to materialistic things.

What Does the Queen of Pentacles Tarot Mean in Love?

The Queen of Pentacles has a lot to do with passion, abundance, and prosperity. This translates well to love reading too.

In the upright position, the Queen of Pentacles in love is someone who is warm and welcoming. She is very comfortable with who she is and where she stands.

If you are in a relationship, this could be taken to mean that you are secure in your bond with your partner and that things are or will be going very well for you two. If you have been working hard, perhaps it is time to take a break and celebrate life by enjoying a luxurious treat.

After all, the Queen of Pentacles does enjoy a certain taste of opulence.

If you are single, it could very well mean that you might meet someone who embodies the traits of the Queen of Pentacles.

He or she will be charming but also very down to earth. This person will be considered well off, will enjoy the company of others and vice versa, and will be very aware and diligent about his duties towards his family and work.

What Does the Queen of Pentacles Reversed Mean in Love?

The Queen of Pentacles can mean a few things when it appears in the reverse in a love reading.

The Queen of Pentacles in reverse, in a love reading, could point to a specific person feeling manipulative and shallow. Because the upright Queen of Pentacles is all about abundance and well-being, the opposite is true for the reversed Queen of Pentacles.

If you are in an existing relationship, does it feel like you’re stuck in a rut with your partner? Perhaps you feel insecure and this manifests itself in your life through an increased sense of possessiveness and jealousy.

If this sounds like you or how your partner may be feeling presently, this is the effect of the Queen of Pentacles in reverse.

The reversed Queen of Pentacles is symbolic of lack- a lack of concern for your partner, a lack of self-organization within yourself and your feelings, and the constant need to be reassured of everything in your relationship.

Use the appearance of the reversed Queen of Pentacles as a warning to get your life back on track before it is too late to mend your demeanor.

The Queen of Pentacles as How Someone Thinks of You

If you’re asking the cards for the answer to how someone thinks of you, and you get the Queen of Pentacles, you know the Gods are smiling down on you!

The Queen of Pentacles is someone who is a combination of the best traits a human can ever possess. You are thought of as wise, loyal, charming, logical, and intelligent. While that is a formidable combination of characteristics, you balance each one of them with your cheerful and beautiful spirit.

They think of you as someone who always offers the best advice and has your best interests at heart. You are someone who never wants any harm to befall your loved ones and you are happy to move heaven and earth for the people you care about.

Your nurturing spirit is one of the best aspects about you, which is why you are seen as someone who genuinely cares about the people and issues close to her heart.

The Queen of Pentacles Reversed as How Someone Thinks of You

If the Queen of Pentacles comes up in a reversed position to answer your question about how someone thinks of you, it isn’t the most positive card to receive.

In reverse, the Queen of Pentacles shows that you are thought of as someone selfish and too preoccupied with your own well-being. You have lost the warm, nurturing spirit you may have had in the past.

The Queen of Pentacles in a reversed position also denotes a lack of abundance and fertility. It may point to the fact that you are seen as someone who has lost track of their priorities. You are imbalanced and do not have your inner emotions in check.

You may also be seen as someone who stifles and manipulates the people around her since you lack the motherly affections that an upright Queen of Pentacles is known for.

The Queen of Pentacles Tarot Card as Feelings

The Queen of Pentacles as a card that represents feelings is a wonderful card to have pop up in a reading.

As a ‘feelings’ card, the Queen of Pentacles is a card that symbolizes genuine warmth and abundance. This could be an abundance of love, happiness, or even financial abundance.

If you look closely at the crown the Queen of Pentacles wears in the Rider Waite illustration, you will notice the geomantic symbol mentioned earlier- Caput Draconis. This symbol is associated with the planets of Jupiter and Venus, generally thought of as benefic or “good-doer” planets.

This symbol of Caput Draconis is considered very favorable for new beginnings.

Thus, a reading where the Queen of Pentacles appears upright also denotes hope and good fortunes.

These can be strong feelings, especially in terms of a love reading, where you or your partner may be hoping for a strong, new beginning to the relationship, especially if you have been disagreeing with each other lately.

The Queen of Pentacles Reversed Tarot Card as Feelings

To be honest, the Queen of Pentacles in reverse does not show the most positive feelings.

In reverse, the Queen of Pentacles as a card representative of feelings shows that someone thinks of you as having lost the inherent balance you may have earlier displayed. If representing your own emotions, you may be feeling isolated at this point from the rest of your loved ones.

Many tarot card readers have noticed that the Queen of Pentacles is sitting on her throne, with her body leaning slightly to the left.

The left direction is considered to be representative of the past in tarot card symbolism. Therefore, to draw this card would mean that either the seeker of the reading or the person in the seeker’s mind might be feeling nostalgic and melancholic.

The Queen of Pentacles in the reversed position also talks about a dearth of fertility and abundance. This might refer to a situation where love, passion, and other feelings do not have the correct environment to grow in.

If this sounds similar to what the seeker is experiencing at this point, it is imperative that they take a step back and examine their lives, especially what they are attached to and their reaction to current events.

The Queen of Pentacles Tarot card as A Situation

If you draw the Queen of Pentacles as the current or coming situation, you have been blessed.

The Queen of Pentacles in the upright position is a nod to a very favorable situation coming your way. You will see your fortunes taking a turn for the better since the Queen of Pentacles is all about abundance and growth.

As a card talking about a specific situation, the Queen of Pentacles also reminds you of the importance of balance. The card asks you to remain down to earth and logical because this will allow you to take the best decision in the situation you currently face.

There is a complete bounty of produce around the Queen of Pentacles. She is surrounded by roses, fruit, and a river running nearby- all symbols of the fact that you probably have everything you need to take the correct next step in this situation you face.

The Queen of Pentacles Tarot Reversed as A Situation

The Queen of Pentacles reversed as a card symbolic of the situation you are in may indicate the following.

In the reversed position, the Queen of Pentacles talks about a situation that lacks balance and the kind of stable grounding influence that the upright Queen of Pentacles brings to the table.

The appearance of this card in reverse asks that you make decisions with a clear and calm mind, because this is not the most favorable of times, especially when it comes to financial abundance and fertility.

The situation may also become one where you may feel isolated and lost, due to a feeling of deep loneliness in your core. You may also feel disconnected from the world, because your surroundings may feel shallow and clichéd to you.

It is essential to your own well-being that you speak to someone you trust about these feelings you might be facing. It will help you take a logical and objective view of the situation you are in.

The Queen of Pentacles Tarot Card as Intentions / What Someone Wants

The Queen of Pentacles is a delightful card to get as an indication of what someone wants from you.

When the Queen of Pentacles comes up as an intentions card, you can be assured that what they want is positive and will work in your favor, especially if the seeker is looking at a romantic relationship.

The Queen of Pentacles in an upright position is all about abundance and strength.

Perhaps this person wants a relationship with you because you attract them with your innate warmth and nurturing nature. If this is the case, the appearance of the Queen of Pentacles shows that this relationship will result in a strong bond that will make your life better.

If the reading has been done for a professional situation, your Inner Self is telling you that this will bring you manifold blessings, good fortune, and plenty of pentacles.

The Queen of Pentacles Reversed as Intentions / What Someone Wants

The Queen of Pentacles shows up in reverse and can often be taken as a nudge from your Higher Self. If the warning is heeded, the sun will shine again, and the flowers will once again bloom, no matter how dire the situation may look.

In reverse, the Queen of Pentacles is a warning that you may not be taking the correct path because someone’s intentions are not pure. The reversed Queen of Pentacles is often seen as a symbol of manipulation and self-absorbed nature.

Are you becoming too withdrawn or inaccessible to the world around you? Someone may be approaching you with intentions that might conceal a hidden agenda. Since you do not have all the facts in front of you, you may be taken for a ride here.

Be careful and trust your intuition. If a person appears too good to be true, take a step back and assess the situation with logic.

Is the Queen of Pentacles Tarot card a Yes or a No?

Generally speaking, if the Queen of Pentacles appears upright, it is a very strong “Yes”.

The Queen of Pentacles is a mature woman who brings much love, fertility, and great abundance with her. She is warm and nurturing. Therefore, if you are stuck at a crossroads and want to know if the answer is positive or not, it definitely is!

In reverse, the Queen of Pentacles is a “no” and asks that you use your logic and intuition to guide you toward the correct path, so that you may get out of the situation unscathed.

The Queen of Pentacles Card as an Obstacle or Challenge

The Queen of Pentacles may initially seem to be a strange and confusing card to get as an obstacle or challenge. Here’s what it may mean.

As an obstacle or challenge in the upright position, the Queen of Pentacles may refer to a woman or feminine figure who is very particular about her standards and expectations. She might symbolize wanting to stay in her comfort zone, almost as if she is willing to stay in her rut.

She is someone who loves her luxurious life and may not want to budge and move towards something that will lower her standard of living. This might not necessarily be a partner in a romantic relationship but may also refer to a boss or manager you might need to work for.

This person may also refer to you. If there is an opportunity to move and explore more options, the challenge presented by the Queen of Pentacles is that you have gotten used to the cushy and comfortable position you are in now.

This characteristic is an obstacle or a hindrance to the progress that you might enjoy if you decide to stand up from the throne you are glued to.

The Queen of Pentacles Card Reversed as an Obstacle or Challenge

In the reverse, as an obstacle, the Queen of Pentacles may denote the following.

The Queen of Pentacles reversed is an indication of an obstacle that may take the form of someone else or might even be about you and a change in your nature. The Queen of Swords in reverse denotes energy that is self-absorbed and manipulative.

Perhaps there is someone who is hiding key details about the situation from you. Perhaps that person is closed off like a reversed Queen of Pentacles. They only care about their own well-being and what works for them. This might be an obstacle in a romantic relationship as well as a relationship with a co-worker.

If this sounds like you and you have found yourself becoming increasingly selfish, the reversed Queen of Pentacles should be taken as a warning from your Higher Self that it is time for some introspection and self-evaluation.

The Queen of Pentacles Tarot Card as Action

As a card symbolizing action to be taken, the Queen of Pentacles upright can be a little cryptic.

The Queen of Pentacles in the upright position as an action card is asking you to bring a calm and logical mind to the situation. What you are facing needs you to be composed and unruffled.

In the card’s illustration, the Queen of Pentacles is looking down at her pentacle. The look on her face is often construed as contemplation. Perhaps what this queen is asking you to do is to take a moment to quietly contemplate the situation.

Action to be taken does not always have to be something that brings up conflict or combat. It does not always have to mean doing something to physically change the situation.

Sometimes, the most important action to be taken is something that is done within your mind. The Queen of Pentacles is symbolic of this kind of action. Take a good look at the situation you are facing and think about the next step. The rest will come to you on its own.

The Queen of Pentacles Reversed as Action

The Queen of Pentacles reversed may mean a couple of things, depending on the situation.

The Queen of Pentacles in reverse as an action card, brings a certain sense of self-possession and self-absorbance to the reading. If this is your energy at the present time, the action that needs to be taken will be primarily to ground yourself.

The inverted Queen of Pentacles is also symbolic of a selfish energy that will not hesitate to twist facts to benefit her. This energy will need to be cleaned before any progress can be made.

Look around and take note of your surroundings. If your behavior is negatively affecting someone, accept responsibility for your own actions and see how you can change this.

The Queen of Pentacles Tarot Card as Advice

In an upright position, the Queen of Pentacles is reminding you to be like her- calm, loving, nurturing, and sensible. She is adept at being organized and balanced and advises you to bring the same energy to the situation at hand.

As an advice card, this queen is a reminder that it is rewarding to be a person whom others can count on. Rewards do not necessarily have to be financial but can also come in the form of spiritual karma.

Be open to new opportunities. Stand up from the throne once in a while and take a stroll to see what is happening around you.

The Queen of Pentacles is a strong-willed figure, but she can just as easily become someone who builds walls around themselves because they are so independent. Don’t go down that road, because it only leads to loneliness.

The Queen of Pentacles Reversed as Advice

In reverse, the Queen of Pentacles as an advice card is relatively easy to decipher.

The Queen of Pentacles in reverse is a card that denotes self-obsession to the point where it becomes isolating. Thus, the card serves as a warning, telling you to gently let go of the extreme independence you may have developed.

The walls around you are not necessarily keeping you safe but may also be keeping happiness and emotional fulfillment from reaching you. Let go of the selfish, disorganized behavior you have been expressing, and reach within to become the warm, nurturing soul that the upright Queen of Pentacles is.

They are charming, grounded, and approach a situation with logic and organization.

This queen makes her surroundings fertile. Perhaps things have been rough of late, but you can expect an outcome that brings abundance and an expansion in fortunes.

The Queen of Pentacles Reversed as an Outcome

As an outcome card in reverse, the Queen of Pentacles may indicate a negative transformation of your energy.

In reverse, the Queen of Pentacles is selfish, obsessed with climbing the social ladder, and manipulative. Perhaps as the outcome of a situation, you or someone in your life will take on the personality of the Queen of Pentacles.

What is important to understand is that reading is often an embodiment of the current situation. This means that the outcome will be the reversed Queen of Pentacles if your present actions do not change.

The Queen of Pentacles in reverse brings the opposite of the good fortunes that the upright queen delivers. Therefore, use this card as a cautionary note to change the energy you project so that the outcome itself also changes.

The future as indicated by the Queen of Pentacles may involve feelings of severe loneliness. Your selfish energy has cut you off from happiness. You may be deserted by loved ones because you only seem to look out for yourself.

This card must be used as a warning so that you can change in time. You do not deserve the reversed Queen of Pentacles, because there is nothing calming or welcoming about this queen’s energy.

Do the work, introspect and understand that while the future isn’t set in stone, the only way to change the potential outcome is by changing your energy today.
