What Zodiac Sign is LeBron James?

LeBron James became a professional basketball player right out of high school in 2003. This early promise has not disappointed. Now, sports writers openly debate whether he or Michael Jordan is the best basketball player of all time. What is LeBron James’s Zodiac sign?

LeBron James’s Zodiac sign is Capricorn. The greater contributor to his athletic success, however, may be having the planet Mars conjunct the Midheaven of his astrological chart, which researcher Michel Gauquelin found was common for champion athletes.

With his Midheaven in Pisces, some of LeBron’s interests outside sports may become more prominent as he grows older.

Indicators of a rough start in Life

LeBron was born December 30, 1984, in Akron, Ohio, as documented in Astro-Databank. He has the Sun in Capricorn conjunct Neptune, which means that Neptune is just a few degrees away from his Sun.

Conjunctions, squares, and oppositions between Neptune and the Sun or Moon in a person’s natal chart can refer to difficulty with at least one of their parents, especially if other factors in the chart reinforce that theme.

Meanwhile, LeBron’s Sun is squaring his Moon in Aries. His Moon is not in aspect with Neptune, but a Sun-Moon square in the natal chart can be an indicator of turmoil between the parents.

JockBio.com and The Guardian reported that LeBron was born to a 16-year-old single mother.

His father, who had an extensive criminal record, was not involved in his life. LeBron’s home life with his mother was chaotic to the point that it interfered with his school attendance when he was in fourth grade, so he wound up living with his football coach, Frank Walker.

Another indicator of difficult circumstances growing up is LeBron’s square aspect between Venus in Aquarius and Saturn conjunct South Node in Scorpio. A conjunction, square, or opposition between Venus and Saturn in a natal chart can refer to a deprived childhood, especially in regard to money or love.

For comparison, my article on Kris Jenner noted that she has a Venus-Saturn conjunction that was associated with her family having money problems in her childhood.

Throughout the years 1993 and 1994, the transit of Pluto through the sign of Scorpio landed on LeBron’s Saturn-South Node conjunction. This would be approximately the time someone born in 1984 was in fourth grade. Pluto transits have a reputation for being transformative experiences.

Frank Walker, noticing that LeBron had a talent for basketball just playing in the backyard, got LeBron involved with organized basketball. The rest is history.

LeBron got national attention for his basketball skills by the time he was playing for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio.

He then skipped college for the National Basketball Association (NBA) draft right out of high school in 2003. He was the first pick in the draft – and the Cleveland Cavaliers, close to his hometown in Ohio, snapped him up.

LeBron has since played for the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers over the course of his NBA career. At the end of 2019, he was named The Associated Press male athlete of the decade for the 2010s.

A NBC Sports comparison of LeBron and Michael Jordan for best basketball player of all time noted that the two players had similar statistics but picked LeBron for his ability to lift up his whole team along with him.

Sun conjunct Neptune in Capricorn in the seventh house

LeBron’s Sun-Neptune conjunction in Capricorn is in the seventh house of his natal chart. The seventh house begins with the Descendant. As discussed in my article on Kim Kardashian, the Descendant and the seventh house speak to what kind of partner a person is likely to attract.

Most Millennials have Neptune in the sign of Capricorn, as Neptune spends almost 14 years in each sign. This is discussed further in my article on Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. LeBron is only two months younger than Katy Perry, but Neptune changed sign from Sagittarius to Capricorn between the two of them.

Neptune has to do with what a person idealizes. The house it falls in and the aspects it makes to luminaries and personal planets speak to more individual ideals. Aspects between Neptune and outer planets, as well as Neptune’s sign, refer to the ideals shared by a whole generation.

See my article on 7 Most Important Aspects of a Natal Chart for the difference between personal and outer planets.

Capricorn is all about structure and achievement, so the whole Neptune in the Capricorn generation idealizes structure and achievement.

LeBron having his Sun conjunct Neptune in Capricorn means this speaks more personally to him than it does to most people of his generation, and it is easy to see why given the chaos of his childhood. Somebody who didn’t have structure growing up might idealize it.

LeBron’s achievements in basketball certainly have brought him some forms of stability that were lacking in his upbringing. The seventh house placement of his Sun-Neptune conjunction in Capricorn suggests that he also looks to the partnership to bring structure to his life.

LeBron is actually married to his high school sweetheart, Savannah Brinson, as reported by The Associated Press. Their three children are definitely getting the secure upbringing that was lacking in LeBron’s own childhood, and that is truly heartwarming to watch.

LeBron said as much in an open letter to his father on Instagram, as reported by USA Today: “The fuel that I use – you not being there – it’s part of the reason I grew up to become who I am.”

LeBron’s oldest son Bronny, born in 2004, was already getting eyed by college basketball teams by the time he was ten years old, as reported by Heavy.com.

Mars conjunct Midheaven

Another striking feature of LeBron’s chart is Mars tightly conjunct with the Midheaven in Pisces. As discussed in my article 7 Most Important Aspects of a Natal Chart, the Midheaven, one of the four angles in a chart, represents a career the person might be publicly known for.

It makes sense that the Midheaven is highlighted in this way in LeBron’s chart, as he certainly has a career he is publicly known for.

In the mid-20th century, researcher Michel Gauquelin collected numerous charts and discovered that people of different professions tend to have different planets near the Ascendant or Midheaven in their charts, as discussed in 3 Ways To Choose A Career According To Astrology.

For athletes, Gauquelin found Mars near the Ascendant or Midheaven, and Mars near the Midheaven is of course what LeBron has.

Gauquelin’s Mars effect for champion athletes specifically attracted the attention of researchers opposed to astrology, who then attempted to replicate his research in order to debunk it.

As reported by Astrology News Service, one such researcher, Marvin Zelen, “examined the charts of average individuals born on the same day and general location as the Mars sports champions in the Gauquelin study.

The idea was that if the effect was due to demographics and not the planets, the same effect would show up with ordinary citizens. The results not only vindicated Gauquelin but also served to demolish the demographics argument once and for all.”

The title of Gauquelin’s book is Birthtimes (Check Amazon) because the time of day you were born determines where the angles in your birth chart are and therefore what planets fall near the angles. Two people born at different times on the same day, as in Zelen’s test, could have very different angles.

Mars and Midheaven in Pisces

Yes, LeBron having Mars conjunct his Midheaven makes sense for him being a professional athlete. For an athlete, though, Pisces isn’t the first sign that comes to mind for either Mars or the Midheaven. The more common stereotypes for Pisces are spiritual or artistic rather than physical.

Sportscasting reported that the oldest NBA player to play in a game was Nat Hickey at age 45 years and 363 days.

The point is, most professional athletes retire young enough that they could pursue a second career after sports if they wanted to. While some go into coaching or sportscasting, it’s certainly not mandatory that the second career be related to sports.

LeBron, who is at this writing 35 years old, has already started to delve into the arts. With childhood friend Maverick Carter as a business partner, he founded SpringHill Entertainment, which has already produced several shows including the NBC game show The Wall, as reported by USA Today.

He’s also picked up a few movie cameos. Being in Los Angeles to play for the Lakers gives him proximity to Hollywood to pursue this interest further.

He also funds The LeBron James Family Foundation, which gives back to his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

The foundation’s most dramatic achievement is its partnership with Akron Public Schools to run the I Promise School in Akron, which has an innovative approach to supporting at-risk children with longer school days, a longer school year, and additional resources, as reported by Forbes.

While using the athletic potential of a Mars-Midheaven conjunction was probably necessary for LeBron to escape the poverty of his upbringing, he seems likely to develop the Pisces qualities of his Midheaven further as his life unfolds.

I love my Asakuki Diffuser, I have this going in my living room or my office with either peppermint or lavender. The diffuser holds more water than other diffusers and lasts longer. It also has a timer so that I doesn’t run dry. The Diffuser adds a nice gentle scent to my home.

I also love having my White Sound Machine and my Asakuki Diffuser running in my living room. Sometimes I will choose the sound of rain or the ocean or even thunder. It depends on my mood.

I’ll fill the diffuser with lavender or peppermint. With the thunder in the background and the smell of peppermint, it’s like being whisked away to a faraway place!

I really love the Himalayan salt Lamp and my Crystal Tree of Life. I have them in my office and they create a “zen” feel for me while I’m working.
